All You Need To Know About Roll Crushers

Roll crushers can handle primary, secondary, and tertiary crushing of friable materials like coal, salt, clay and bauxite, as well as other minerals with similar characteristics. They are used in power generation, mining, and many other industries. Roll Crushers are a popular choice in the mining industry and have many advantages such as high crushing capacity, low headroom and low horsepower. They can also handle wet and sticky feeds. The roll crushers produce cubical products with minimal damages.

These machines are very reliable due to their simplicity of construction. They also require little maintenance. Roll crushers have tramp relief built-in that allows uncrushable materials to pass through the machine while working and returning to its original product setting.

What is the need for Roll Crushers?

Roll crushers, also known as crushing rolls or double roller crushers, are still implemented in some factories. However, they have been supplanted mainly by cone crushers in most installations. They’re likewise helpful in treating Brittle, viscous, frozen, and less harsh feeds, including limestone, fuel, chalk, gypsum, phosphate, and soft iron ores that aren’t too rough.

Uses of a Double Roller Crusher

Smooth roller and teeth roller are the two types of roller crushers. A smooth roller crusher breaks materials primarily through the extrusion of two rollers. However, it also has a crushing capacity and is fit for medium and fine crushing of average hard materials. While a tooth crusher primarily chops material, it also grinds it, making it ideal for coarse and medium crushing of delicate and soft rocks.

Types of Roll Crusher

  • Toothed Double Roll Crusher

Toothed Double Roll Crusher is commonly used for direct and indirect crushing of mild to moderately complex materials such as stone, lignite, limestone, chalk, sinter, coke, coal, and many other materials.

The process of piercing and compression crushes the material feed as the two toothed profile rotors rotate inward. The hovering rotor is moved by twisting the attached spindle for optimum component size. An auto gap happens when the material enters the hole, compressing the spring and then releasing it. Spring retraction returns the floating rotor to its original position.

  • Smooth Double Roll Crusher

Coal, glass, gypsum, stone, fertilizer, limestone, and other moderate materials are crushed by the Smooth Double Roll Crusher.

The smooth double roll crusher comprises two soft rollers, one of which rotates clockwise and the other counter clockwise. Compression crushes the feeding materials as they are pressed between the rolls. The floating roll for product gradation is controlled by the spindle or hydraulic cylinder movement. When an on-crushable element enters the crushing zone, the gap automatically widens due to spring pressure, protecting the system from severe damage.
